The Bounty

The Bounty

Watched this Hong Kong movie called The Bounty (懸紅) and it's surprisingly nice!

Starring Chapman To and Fiona Sit and Alex Man, it's good mix of Hongkie-comedy and action with its own flavor.

Copenhagen Solutions

Dropped by URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) Singapore over the weekend to check out their urban planning exhibition - Copenhagen Solutions.

Been digging a little deeper into urban planning and doing some reading on Copenhagen recently. Definitely a very interesting read; besides the fact that Denmark itself being the happiest country in the world, Copenhagen has a global reputation for being the bicycle city, in which the urban planning and policy are designed to encourage cycling as the core transportation in the city.

New on my list - Copenhagen!

Copenhagen Solution

A 3d model showing what I believe is part of the urban greenery design ( I mean a park!)

Windmill modal - leveraging the wind to create sustainable and clean energy for the city
Urban residential project built based on the idea of private garden for each residential unit
3d modal of The Prism (Sports and cultural facilities as seen)

3d modal of The Crystal
no idea what this is, probably part of the urban planning to encourage social interaction among the residents

Further reading on Copenhagen / Denmark:
  • denmark.dk  >> Nicely designed country website (not your Truly Asia website) to provide insight and overview for the country
  • kk.dk >> just discovered this and still going through. Amazingly they have an English version which looks 10 times better than the Danish version itself.

The Thirsty Crowd

Just completed last week!

Hand painted canvas bag for my lil brother's birthday! The painting is based on the story of the thirsty crow. Google if you haven't heard of it.

A lil bit more here.

Finished!

On the right is the Thirsty Crowd and on the left is my first hand-painted canvas bag for myself 8 years ago.
(2004, still shiny and looking good!)
It said "FST", which is a short form for my then-artist name - Faust

Gillman Barracks

Last night was the opening for Gillman Barracks. It's a new place in town featuring both local and international galleries.

Small world, new friends, fresh works - that pretty much sums up an awesome Friday night :)

The Journey @ Maya Gallery Singapore

Rushed off to Maya Gallery for the opening of The Journey show after work.
"The Journey is a celebration of Maya Gallery’s inaugural artist residency in Bali, which saw many cultural exchanges with Balinese artists, and opportunities to explore old towns and pura or temples and learn traditional ink-making techniques."
A pretty good fusion of styles; personal favor are the Chinese Ink paintings by Jeffrey and a set of abstract paintings by Indonesian artist Suklu.

Managed to have some small chat with some of the artists and gallery manager Fari, really friendly and inspiring people :)

The Journey will be up from 13 Sept 2012 - 3 Oct 2012 @ Maya Gallery. Do drop by!

Para

As time goes by, not only did his shyness not fade away; it actually went through a more elegant growth, transforming itself into an arrogant reluctance to step in too far into any social discussion. Instead, he takes a step backward with an occasional subtle smile; like he always does, only without any doubt this time; and observe the crowd, their expression, gestures...
